The Epic 4G Touch also includes an 8-megapixel camera/camcorder with auto-focus and flash that shoots video with incredible detail in full HD 1080p resolution, plus a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that's perfect for self-portraits or video chat.

It runs on Sprint's expanding 4G network, offering simultaneous voice and data connectivity and download speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G. Additionally, the phone can still connect to 3G data services in areas not currently served by Sprint's 4G network (learn more about Sprint's 4G network below). The phone also includes Wireless-N Wi-Fi networking plus Mobile Hotspot capability for sharing your 3G/4G connection with up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices simultaneously.

Other features include a 16 GB internal memory (with expansion up to 32 GB via optional microSD cards), Bluetooth for hands-free devices and stereo music streaming, GPS for navigation via built-in Google Maps and location-based services (plus access to the optional Sprint Navigation turn-by-turn service), personal and corporate e-mail, and up to 6 hours of talk time (see full specifications below).

Samsung Innovations

Despite being one of the thinnest smartphones on the market--measuring just 0.38 inches thin-- the Epic 4G Touch is packed with a bevy of Samsung technological innovations and exclusive features.

  • The 4.52-inch Super AMOLED Plus display has a 50 percent higher pixel density, resulting in excellent textual clarity and even better graphics. The Super AMOLED Plus display is also razor thin, helping to reduce the overall size of the Epic 4G Touch, and it also helps to reduce power consumption by 18 percent.
  • Samsung's TouchWiz user interface provides superior multitasking and customization for an enhanced visual and intuitive smartphone experience. Features include direct access to music player's controls and to missed events, calls, and messages from the lock screen.
  • The 1.2 GHz dual-core Samsung Exynos processor includes five graphics cores (compared to just one in many of today's dual-core mobile processors), which helps both multitasking and Internet browsing as well as smooth Full HD 1080p video rendering.

Mobile Entertainment

Samsung's Media Hub enables you to rent or purchase movies and TV shows within seconds watch from the convenience of anywhere. With Media Hub's progressive downloading feature, you can start watching your content almost immediately as the rest of the file downloads to the Infuse 4G. Plus, all Media Hub content can be shared among five Media Hub-enabled devices on the same account.

Ultra-fast 1.2 GHz dual-core processor perfect for gaming and viewing HD videos.

Down to Business

While the Epic 4G Touch is ideal for mobile multimedia, it's also packed full of top-of-the-line enterprise functionality as well as access to corporate e-mail (with full support of Exchange ActiveSync). The on-device encryption function offers a hardware-accelerated algorithm for superior performance. Other enterprise features include:

  • Cisco AnyConnect Virtual Private Network (VPN) for reliable, easy-to-deploy encrypted network connectivity.
  • Cisco WebEx Meetings allows you to meet anywhere at anytime in a secure environment. View documents and applications, plus share screens with live annotations. You can also choose to chat privately or with everyone in the meeting.
  • Sybase Afaria mobile device management, which provides over-the-air deployment of software as well as remote device wipe should it become lost.

Vital Statistics

The Samsung Epic 4G Touch weighs 4.55 ounces and measures 5.1 x 2.7 x 0.38 inches. Its 1800 mAh lithium-ion battery is rated at up to 8.7 hours of talk time. It runs on Sprint's 4G network as well as the 800/1900 CDMA/EV-DO Rev. A frequencies.

What's in the Box

Samsung Epic 4G Touch handset, rechargeable battery, charger, USB cable, quick start guide

Android Gingerbread Operating System

The Epic 4G Touch runs the Android 2.3 operating system (dubbed Gingerbread)--the fastest version of Android available for smartphones yet. It features a cleaner, more refined interface with new icons, improved top notification bar, and more intuitive navigation.

Multitasking in Gingerbread allows you the ability to run more than one app at a time. If you're playing a game, you can easily switch to an incoming email and then switch back to the game without losing your place. And like the previous version of Android ("Froyo"), Gingerbread provides support for Adobe Flash Player 10.1 for access to the full Web.

A new onscreen keyboard makes it easier to type thanks to additional spacing between the keys and larger font sizes. And the more you use the keyboard, the easier typing will be as the enhanced suggest feature records previous input history to make better suggestions.

The Epic 4G Touch also brings one-touch access to the popular Google mobile services you use every day, including Google Search, Gmail, Google Maps with Navigation, Google Calendar, Picasa, and YouTube. It also provides easy access to both personal and corporate e-mail, calendars, and contacts supported by Exchange Server and Gmail. And through Android Market, you'll get access to thousands of useful applications, widgets, and fun games to download and install on your phone, with many more apps being added every day.

Sprint's Blazing Fast 4G Network

Sprint 4G offers a faster wireless experience than any other U.S. national wireless carrier, and Sprint is the only national carrier offering wireless 4G service in 32 markets (with more coming online soon). Sprint 4G delivers download speeds up to 10 times faster than 3G, giving this mobile phone the fastest data speeds of any U.S. wireless device available today. As of August 2011, Sprint offers 4G service in 71 markets in 28 states.

Sprint 4G services dramatically increase download speeds for photos, videos and large files. You can download a favorite song, picture, sitcom or large video in seconds, not minutes, or watch live streaming video--all while on the go, not just from the home or office. Additionally, businesses can benefit from the fast connectivity speeds of 4G. Some examples include:

appealing Facts About Cell Phones

!±8± appealing Facts About Cell Phones

Cell phone (telefone celular) is a wireless, portable, long-range, electronic telephone, which during voyage can seamlessly change antenna connections, from one radio reception cell to someone else radio reception cell, without dropping or losing the ongoing call.

Besides the accepted voice function of a telephone, most recent cell phones (telefone celular) have features such as Sms for text messages, Mms for multimedia messages, radio, games, internet connectivity for email, browsing, blogging, music (Mp3) playback, memo recording, built-in cameras and camcorders, ringtones, personal organizers, Push-to-Talk (Ptt), Bluetooth and infrared connectivity, call registers, streaming video, downloading video, video call, and also serve as wireless modems for Pcs that can be connected to the Internet.

The power in a cell phone (telefone celular) is obtained from rechargeable batteries, which can be recharged from the mains, a Usb port or a cigarette lighter port in an automobile. Nickel Metal Hydride were the most common types of batteries, which due to the "memory effect" (the user can recharge only when the entire battery is drained off) were supplanted by Lithium-Ion batteries, which did not suffer from any memory effect.

Cell phones (telefone celular) came into existence because of the invention of hexagonal cells in 1947, for the base stations by Bell Labs engineers at At&T. This was further advanced during the 1960s by Bell Labs. during a call, the channel frequency could not be changed automatically from one cell (base middle point coverage area) to someone else cell (base middle point coverage area) as the person traveled from the area of one cell to the area of someone else cell. Amos Joel of Bell Labs invented a breakthrough invention and called it as the `call handoff` by which the channel frequency could be changed automatically from one cell to someone else cell, during the same call, as the movable user traveled from one cell to someone else cell. Due to their heavy construction, these phones were used generally in automobiles.

The first practical cell phone in a non-vehicle setting, and which could be handheld, was invented by Martin Cooper, the normal boss (Communications Division) of Motorola, who made the world`s first handheld cell phone (telefone celular) call on April 3, 1973.

The technology by which the cell phone (telefone celular) works depends on the movable phone operator; however, all of them use electromagnetic radio waves, which are in touch with a cell site (base station). The base middle point is composed of some antennas which are mounted on a pole, tower, or building. Cell sites are spread at a length of 5 to 8 miles (approx. 8 to 13 km) from each other. The low power transceiver from the cell phone transmits the voice and data to the nearest cell site. during movement, the cell phone will "handoff" the information to other cell site. movable phone operators use many technologies to assert the smooth stream of digitized data from the cell phone to the cell site and vice versa.

The wireless telephone technologies are grouped under heads known as generations, starting from zero generation or 0G. The current generation going on is 4G; however, there are old cell phones (telefone celular) that still control on 1G, 2G, and 3G technologies. The wireless telephone technologies used in each generation are as given below:

0G: Ptt, Mts, Imts, Amts, Olt, Mtd, Autotel/Palm, Arp
1G: Nmt, Amps/Tacs/Etacs, Hicap, Cdpd, Mobitex, DataTac
2G: Gsm, iDen, D-Amps, Is-95/cdmaOne, Pdc, Csd, Phs, Gprs, Hscsd, WiDen, Cdma2000 1xRtt/Is-2000, Edge (Egprs)
3G: W-Cdma, Umts (3Gsm), Foma, Td-Cdma/Umts-Tdd, 1xEv-Do/Is-856, Td-Scdma, Gan (Uma), Hspa, Hsdpa, Hsupa, Hspa+, Hsopa
4G : Umb, Umts revising 8 (Lte), WiMax
Frequency bands: Smr, Cellular, Pcs

The impact of cell phone (telefone celular) usage on human condition has been of necessary worldwide concern. Explore studies in Copenhagen, from the Danish institute of Cancer Epidemiology, the National Cancer Institute, and the institute of Cancer Research, do not institute any link between cancer and cell phone usage. However, an intergovernmental group Iarc (International group for Explore on Cancer) forming part of the World condition organization of the United Nations, undertook a study of 4,500 users and found a statistically necessary link between cell phone usage and tumor frequency. further Explore is going on.

Cell phone (telefone celular) usage and driving is a common worldwide phenomenon. Some jurisdictions have banned usage of hand-held phones during driving, but allowed the hands-free fashion of cell phone usage while driving. However, studies have found out that the distraction is caused by the conversation itself; hence, both hand-held and hands-free cell phones lead towards road traffic accidents. further studies on cell phone usage and driving are going on.

Nokia Corporation is currently the world`s largest builder of cell phones (telefone celular). Other illustrious cell phone manufacturers, in alphabetical order, are 3G, Audiovox (now Ut Starcom), Benefon, BenQ-Siemens, Fujitsu, High Tech Computer Corporation (Htc), Kyocera, Lg Mobile, Motorola, Nec, Panasonic (Matsushita Electric), Pantech Curitel, Philips, Explore In Motion, Sagem, Samsung, Sanyo, Sharp, Siemens, Sierra Wireless, Sk Teletech, Sony Ericsson, T&A Alcatel, Toshiba, and Verizon.
